27 - THE Î HEXAGRAM.

Î indicates that with firm correctness there will be good fortune (in what is denoted by it). We must look at what we are seeking to nourish, and by the exercise of our thoughts seek for the proper aliment.

27 - Supply

One supplies as needed.

Ī : 1. Entretenir, soutenir ; 2. Menton, côté de la bouche ; 3. Profond.

Texte

Entretenir : achève heureusement. (Il faut) examiner soigneusement comment on entretient. On doit chercher soi-même ce qui est bon pour sa bouche.

Symbolisme

Une montagne au-dessus du tonnerre (image de celui qui réprime ses désirs, restreint ses tendances). Le sage s’observe ainsi en ses paroles et modère l’usage des aliments.

Commentaire

Entretenir sa rectitude est cause de bonheur. On doit examiner ce que l’on entretient et ce qui doit nous entretenir. Le ciel et la terre entretiennent tout ; le saint entretient la sagesse pour atteindre par eux tous les peuples. Grande est l’opportunité de l’entretien.

27 - L'alimentation

On alimente selon la nécessité.

Celui qui agit mal dans la recherche de son entretien déchoira certainement. En dix ans, il ne fera rien qui lui soit avantageux. (Litt. : qu’il ne fasse rien.)

Il rencontrera de grands obstacles.

On néglige son approvisionnement.

One moves aside to shelter one's friends.

Si l’on viole les règles, quand même on serait en voie de prospérité, on ne réussira pas définitivement dans les grandes difficultés.

The sixth line, undivided, shows him from whom comes the nourishing. His position is perilous, but there will be good fortune. It will be advantageous to cross the great stream.

One gives others what they ask for after having gone to fetch it

Rechercher les moyens d’entretenir les hommes est une excellente chose quoique difficile ; elle réussira avantageusement (si l’on s’y applique).

On en retirera l’approbation universelle.

On donne aux autres ce qu'ils demandent après avoir été le chercher.

63 - THE KÎ 3Î HEXAGRAM.

Kî 3î intimates progress and success in small matters. There will be advantage in being firm and correct. There has been good fortune in the beginning ; there may be disorder in the end.

63 - Maximum

One can make some improvements so as not to see the decline.

63 - Tchi tzi, ce qui suit l’achèvement

Tchi-tzi : traversée achevée, achèvement, succès, moyen d’achever, compléter.

Ki tsi « traversée accomplie 4, première réussite ». Si le succès suivant est faible, c’est qu’après un commencement heureux, la fin a été troublée (Comme à 64).

Texte

Traversée accomplie ; premier succès ; mais le succès suivant peut être faible car, après un commencement heureux, il peut survenir trouble et danger.

Symbolisme

L’eau par-dessus le feu forme le Koua. Le sage, par sa prévoyance et sa crainte prudente, se garde contre les dangers et reste en paix.

Commentaire

Tchi-tzi = traversée accomplie, réussite, progrès. Les petites affaires réussissent aisément. On réussit facilement quand petits et grands, forts et faibles, sont droits et justes et chacun en sa place et son rang. Un bon commencement peut avoir des suites funestes quand la sagesse des personnes s’épuise.

On peut apporter quelques améliorations pour ne pas voir le déclin.

• 2. The second line, divided,(shows the attribute of) being straight, square, and great. (Its operation), without repeated efforts, will be in every respect advantageous.
• 4. The fourth line, divided, (shows the symbol of) a sack tied up. There will be no ground for blame or for praise.
• 6. The sixth line, divided (shows) dragons fighting in the wild. Their blood is purple and yellow.

One advances masked so as not to frighten others.

2.2.4.6 (2 > 64) - Kwūn, la réceptivité

Kwūn : a) Principe passif, réceptif. 1. Terre étendue et portant ; 2. Femme, femelle ; 3. Soumission, complaisance ; 4. Support, appui. — b) Kwun, fermer, lier. c) Kwun : vêtement impérial.

• 2. Droite, carrée, vaste (la terre), d’elle-même et sans travail, procure toujours des biens à l’homme.
  
  La voie de la terre est brillante, produit de grandes choses.
• 4. (Sens kwun, fermé.) Sac lié, fermé, ne peut être loué ou blâmé (quant à son contenu).
  
  La prudence évite toute injure, tout dommage.
  
  (Le sac fermé est la terre, dont le contenu est inconnu et caché. C’est aussi l’image de la prudence nécessaire à celui qui sert le prince.)
• 6. Le dragon combat dans l’espace ; son sang est noirâtre et jaunâtre. (Reprise du koua précédent : le principe actif lutte dans l’immensité pour produire ; il produit le ciel qui est noirâtre et la terre qui est jaunâtre, selon la terminologie chinoise.)
