Le vent soufflant au-dessus du ciel. Ainsi le grand et sage élève et fait briller la vertu.

Commentaire

Le peuple est entretenu quand la bonté occupe le pouvoir et que grands et petits s’y accommodent entre eux. Avec bonté ferme chez les uns et soumission chez les autres, la puissance atteint son but, les desseins utiles s’exécutent. La figure du premier texte représente la prospérité comme le nuage avançant mais non encore répandu largement.

The topmost line, undivided, shows how the rain has fallen, and the (onward progress) is stayed ; (so) must we value the full accumulation of the virtue (represented by the upper trigram). But a wife (exercising restraint), however firm and correct she may be, is in a position of peril, (and like) the moon approaching to the full. If the superior man prosecute his measures (in such circumstances), there will be evil.

One wants to see the evidence that the other is patient and will not take any initiative, even modest, before committing to give back what one took.

Comme après une pluie tout est remis en bon état, ainsi la vertu encouragée se parfait. Une femme, même accomplie, peut être surexcitée et difficile, comme la lune sur le point d’être pleine.

On veut voir les preuves que l'autre est patient et ne prendra aucune initiative, même modeste, avant de s'engager à lui rendre ce qu'on lui a pris.

47 - THE KHWĂN HEXAGRAM.

In (the condition denoted by) Khwăn there may (yet be) progress and success. For the firm and correct, the (really) great man, there will be good fortune. He will fall into no error. If he make speeches, his words cannot be made good.

47 - The embarrassment

Circumstances or appearances play against one. Justifying oneself is useless, one will be understood later.

47 - K’uán, la détresse

K’uán : détresse, abattement, dureté, sévérité, mauvais traitements.

K’uan « détresse, abattement (dureté, sévérité) ». Celui qui, dans le danger, ne perd pas son principe de développement et qui en détresse même est encore calme et content, c’est l’homme vraiment grand (kiun tzè). Mais d’abord il peut commettre quelque erreur, tomber en détresse s’il se fie à toute parole ; qu’il ne le fasse pas, car la parole est peu sûre.

Texte

Droit et ferme, le grand homme sera heureux. Qu’il ne se fie pas à tout ce qu’on lui dit. — K’uán est le fort saisi, emprisonné, en détresse.

Symbolisme

Marais sans eau, cela figure la détresse. — Le sage expose même sa vie pour atteindre son but.

Commentaire

K’uán est celui qui est dans la détresse, le danger. Si alors même, il ne perd pas sa grandeur d’âme, c’est vraiment un grand homme. L’homme grand prospère s’il reste fermement vertueux. Mais qu’il ne se fie pas aux dires ; les estimer hautement, c’est s’exposer à sa perte.

47 - La gêne

Les circonstances ou les apparences jouent en notre défaveur. Se justifier est inutile, on sera compris plus tard.

• 3. In the third line, divided, we see one whose carriage is dragged back, while the oxen in it are pushed back, and he is himself subjected to the shaving of his head and the cutting dff of his nose. There is no good beginning, but there will be a good end.
• 4. The fourth line, undivided, shows its subject solitary amidst the (prevailing) disunion. (But) he meets with the good man (represented by the first line), and they blend their sincere desires together. The position is one of peril, but there will be no mistake.
• 5. The fifth line, divided, shows that (to its subject) occasion for repentance will disappear. With his relative (and minister he unites closely and readily) as if he were biting through a piece of skin. When he goes forward (with this help), what error can there be ?

One knits jumpers to protect oneself from the cold.

Kwèi : 1. Différent, opposé, éloigné, étrange ; 2. Regarder fixement.

• 2. Si l’on s’accorde en route avec son chef, tout réussira. On ne se trompe pas de chemin. — Ou : Si l’on rencontre son chef c’est qu’on ne s’est pas trompé de chemin.
  
  Si l’on a un différend et qu’on se cherche et s’accorde, on se rencontrera sans effet funeste.
• 3. (Effets de la discorde, des luttes.) On voit un char entraîné par la force, son boeuf saisi et arraché, son conducteur maltraité et le nez coupé. Mais un commencement fâcheux peut avoir une bonne fin, si l’union se rétablit.
• 4. Seul au milieu de la désunion, si le banni rencontre ensuite un honnête homme, il pourra avoir des rapports pleins de droiture et les difficultés antérieures n’engendreront plus d’inconvénient (pour ces deux hommes).
• 5. Par l’union toute cause de souci disparaît, les parents sont unis.
  
  Litt. : se mordent la peau. Ce qui indique pénétration, union de sentiments.
  
  Où qu’on aille, plus de cause de regret.
  
  On est approuvé de tous.
  
  Le grand est sincère envers le petit. Tchéou-Yih, etc. Sens : Quand la désunion a disparu, les familles sont dans la joie, mangent abondamment.
