  • There are no good or bad lines

A common error is to consider that some lines are positive, and others negative. This error is so common that the classical comments are scattered with judgements like Fortune or Misfortune.

For example, one of the least liked lines, the line 6 of hexagram 62 can perfectly describe a positive situation.

When one goes too far, others withdraw, and one breaks something.

With an excess of love others will abandon their hate, or with an excess of precautions difficulties will disappear.

In the same way, a line that is usually viewed as positive can describe a catastrophic situation, for example with 12.4:

Without taking initiatives, one is asked to commit. The friends are helped.

This line can describe a killer hired to murder someone.
