27 - THE Î HEXAGRAM.

Î indicates that with firm correctness there will be good fortune (in what is denoted by it). We must look at what we are seeking to nourish, and by the exercise of our thoughts seek for the proper aliment.

27 - Supply

One supplies as needed.

Texte

Entretenir : achève heureusement. (Il faut) examiner soigneusement comment on entretient. On doit chercher soi-même ce qui est bon pour sa bouche.

Symbolisme

Une montagne au-dessus du tonnerre (image de celui qui réprime ses désirs, restreint ses tendances). Le sage s’observe ainsi en ses paroles et modère l’usage des aliments.

Commentaire

Entretenir sa rectitude est cause de bonheur. On doit examiner ce que l’on entretient et ce qui doit nous entretenir. Le ciel et la terre entretiennent tout ; le saint entretient la sagesse pour atteindre par eux tous les peuples. Grande est l’opportunité de l’entretien.

27 - L'alimentation

On alimente selon la nécessité.

The second line, divided, shows one looking downwards for nourishment, which is contrary to what is proper ; or seeking it from the height (above), advance towards which will lead to evil.

One does not seek in the distance what can be obtained from one's entourage.

Baisser le menton, c’est renverser les lois morales. Le lever vers les hauteurs, c’est aller au mal, au malheur. (Ces deux expressions désignent ceux qui font les parasites près des petits et près des grands — ou plutôt : ceux qui s’avilissent ou visent trop haut.)

27.2 (27 > 41) - Rester près des siens

On ne va pas chercher au loin ce que l'on peut obtenir auprès de son entourage.

27.3 (27 > 22) - THE Î HEXAGRAM.

The third line, divided, shows one acting contrary to the method of nourishing. However firm he may be, there will be evil. For ten years let him not take any action, (for) it will not be in any way advantageous.

27.3 (27 > 22) - Depriving oneself of food

One neglects their supply.

27.3 (27 > 22) - I, l’alimentation

Celui qui agit mal dans la recherche de son entretien déchoira certainement. En dix ans, il ne fera rien qui lui soit avantageux. (Litt. : qu’il ne fasse rien.)

Il rencontrera de grands obstacles.

27.3 (27 > 22) - Se priver de nourriture

On néglige son approvisionnement.

The fourth line, divided, shows one looking downwards for (the power to) nourish. There will be good fortune. Looking with a tiger's downward unwavering glare, and with his desire that impels him to spring after spring, he will fall into no error.

27.4 (27 > 21) - Searching for the best solution

One considers the possibilities.

Celui qui cherche la nourriture comme un tigre avançant pas à pas et regardant fixement, réussira en ses désirs.

The fifth line, divided, shows one acting contrary to what is regular and proper ; but if he abide in firmness, there will be good fortune. He should not, (however, try to) cross the great stream.

27.5 (27 > 42) - Bringing the others in

One moves aside to shelter one's friends.

27.5 (27 > 42) - I, l’alimentation

Si l’on viole les règles, quand même on serait en voie de prospérité, on ne réussira pas définitivement dans les grandes difficultés.

On s'écarte pour mettre ses amis à l'abri.

The sixth line, undivided, shows him from whom comes the nourishing. His position is perilous, but there will be good fortune. It will be advantageous to cross the great stream.

27.6 (27 > 24) - Distributing

One gives others what they ask for after having gone to fetch it

27.6 (27 > 24) - I, l’alimentation

Ī : 1. Entretenir, soutenir ; 2. Menton, côté de la bouche ; 3. Profond.

Rechercher les moyens d’entretenir les hommes est une excellente chose quoique difficile ; elle réussira avantageusement (si l’on s’y applique).

On en retirera l’approbation universelle.

27.6 (27 > 24) - Distribuer

On donne aux autres ce qu'ils demandent après avoir été le chercher.

43 - THE KWÂI HEXAGRAM.

Kwâi requires (in him who would fulfil its meaning) the exhibition (of the culprit's guilt) in the royal court, and a sincere and earnest appeal (for sympathy and support), with a consciousness of the peril (involved in cutting off the criminal). He should (also) make announcement in his own city, and show that it will not be well to have recourse at once to arms. (In this way) there will be advantage in whatever he shall go forward to.

43 - Revelation

The case must be clearly stated, shouting is dangerous. Explain the situation to your entourage. Avoid any brutality, do not turn away.

43 - Kwài, la décision

Kwāi : 1. Rivière divisée en branches ; diviser, couper, disperser ; 2. Décider, régler définitivement, résolu, tranchant ; 3. Habileté, art, prudence.

Texte
Allant à la cour du prince, on doit y faire appel avec sincérité. En cas de différend, on doit avertir ses concitoyens qu’il n’y a pas avantage à recourir aux moyens violents, aux armes, mais qu’il faut faire décider par le pouvoir judiciaire.

Symbolisme
La ligne faible (coupée) au haut de cinq fortes représente l’appel (du petit) à la cour du prince. — Le ciel sur l’eau stagnante représente la décision ferme. Si le sage, en donnant des émoluments à ses inférieurs, veut rester fidèle à la vertu, il devra être très prudent.

Commentaire
Kwài est « décider, régler ». Le fort le fait pour le faible. Il faut en cela, fermeté et douceur, résolution et concorde. « Appel sincère » dans une difficulté grave. Le recours aux armes fait périr ce qu’on tient le plus à avoir. Le fort emporte le bon et c’est tout.

43 - La révélation

L'affaire doit être exposée clairement, crier entraîne le danger. Expliquer la situation à son entourage. Eviter toute brutalité, ne pas se détourner.

43 - Kinyilatkoztatás

Az aggodalmakat egyértelműen kell ismertetni, a hangos nézeteltérés veszélyt okoz. Ki kell fejteni a helyzetet a kisérőinek. Kerülni kell az erőszakot és nem szabad eltérülni.

(The lines of this hexagram are all weak and divided, as appears from) the use of the number six. If those (who are thus represented) be perpetually correct and firm, advantage will arise.

When the work is done, one shares it with their friends.

2.1.2.3.4.5.6 (2 > 1) - Kwūn, la réceptivité

Kwūn : a) Principe passif, réceptif. 1. Terre étendue et portant ; 2. Femme, femelle ; 3. Soumission, complaisance ; 4. Support, appui. — b) Kwun, fermer, lier. c) Kwun : vêtement impérial.

Le nombre six est un nombre heureux ; s’en servir assure le succès. (Phrase interpolée, expliquant l’usage des six lignes de chaque figure.)

Quand l'œuvre est accomplie, on la partage avec ses amis.
